Volvo: fuel pump?, quarter tank, volvo 960

Question
My car was dying while idling at lights, so I cleaned my IAC.
I was driving the car(96 volvo 960 wagon) down the road, it was driving fine(35 mph) and it starts to loose rpms. I pulled onto a sidestreet, I pushed on the gas and nothing. I killed the car at 750 rpms as they were continually droping. I tried to start it up, it cranked, and nothing. After about 20 times trying to start it(yes I know it's bad but I was panicing). then I noticed I didn't heal fuel injectors going. Or the fuel pump turning on as I put the key to the first position. I had gas, not more than a quarter tank, but I had it.

I've been running the car on 6-8 gallons for months, due to financial reasons. I put gas in the car, and the corner of my gas tank appeared to be leaking. the far back left side.

What should I check? how will I know a part is bad? and what should I use to check the relay? injectors? pump itself?

Answer
Mark,
The only leaks that I have seen on the 960's are the fill hose from the neck to the tank. Your car has the IRS rear axle and that will need to be dropped down to replace the hose. About all you can do is fill the tank and watch to see the area of the leak and then inspect real close that fill hose. Sometimes having someone fill the tank and another under looking for the leak area.
