QUESTION: I have v40 2003. 1.6 16v,and there is an alarm problem. After few minutes when the car has been locked it is possible to reach inside the car through open window. The car has movement sensor.Deadlock is O.K. so the door could not be opened from inside when the car is locked. The red LED on the right side near the speaker is not lighting at all. There is also engine sign LED lighting while the car is driving.I noticed both the same morning. What is going on? Please help

ANSWER: Branimir,
There might be a fault code stored in the system that will show why the system is not working properly. Have the car taken to the Volvo shop for an inspection. A programming problem is likely.

QUESTION: Thank You for Your prompt answer , volvo shop have inspected my car and found LAMBDA SONDE( oxygen sensor) faulty , alarm looks everything ok but still does not arm. They did not change LAMBDA SONDE because part will be available aftertomorow.Warning light "engine" lights on after refreshing.Could that all be miss of connection between door lock and immobilizer? Maybe some mechanical disconnection?Does faulty LAMBDA SONDE lights on "engine" warning light? If the LAMBDA SONDE is faulty how does it affects seriouslly to engine performance or catalyzer? Any idea? Please

ANSWER: Branimir,
If the oxygen sensor is not working it can not adjust the fuel mixture properly and could be too rich or lean, causing damage to the cat converter, and altering the engine performance. It will also not pass emission testing. If the alarm still will not work there is still a problem. Some sensor or wiring could be at fault...

QUESTION: Thank You for Your help, but I am asking because I have a doubt about diagnostic for faulty LAMBDA SONDE at Volvo service. Car is driving normally, petrol consumption normal and also I have fixed alarm problem: I have shaked  each fuse in the fuse box and car became alarm armed and sensors inside car reacts normally and reduced guard push button works and cut off alarm as it has to. Today car became disarmed again and I have shaked fuses again , now alarm is in function and LED is lighting normaly. Is it possible that VOLVO SERVICE testing did not recognized bed contact of immobilizer fuse? Is it possible that the "engine warning light" light is still on because of alarm malfunction and LAMBDA is OK? Again I have to mention:Volvo service did not found fault for alarm problem and I asked is it bad fuse or relay but they did not try to inspect that.Seems strange...

Answer
Branimir,
By Lambda I will assume that you mean Oxygen sensor (HO2S). Even thought you have not provided any fault codes that may have been posted when the check engine light was (is) on.
When in doubt get a second opinion. Take the car elsewhere and have the codes read and see what they say. With the answers you have been getting from the dealer you have gone to seems time to change dealers, they are not addressing your problems. There is a lack of communication. Generally speaking when the Check Engine light is on there are codes set for power management faults, not accessory faults.
I have seen and driven cars that have a fault code in the power management system and the car drove to all appearances normally, but with a fault.
