Volvo: 1999 Volvo V70 Remote issue, 1999 volvo v70, volvo v70

Question
Hi Ray
My remote is busted and I need a new one.  They cost a bundle in Australia, I
notice some on eBay for a reasonable price.  Would I need to get my dealer to
reprogram it, or can I do it myself?  I found an answer you gave before
(copied below) for how to reprogram an existing remote, can you program a
new remote this way or is that a dealer job?  Any advice on eBay remotes, are
they OK?

thanks Geoff

Answer
Hello Lisa! It sounds like you need to replace the remote. You can try to re-
program it to see if it works. Sit in the car with all doors closed. Turn the key
in the ignition on and off 5 times, on the 5th turn leavr the ignition on and
press the remote buttons "lock" and "unlock", remove the key and try the
remote. If it does not work, you will need to replace it.

Answer
Geoff,
If you get a remote make sure that all the numbers on it match. Like the part number the frequency number that way you know you have the right one. On the vehicle you have the dealer will have to program the remote, they will need a scanner and the PIN number for the vehicle so it can be programed.
