Volvo: Red Battery Light, charging system, good shape

Question
Yesterday the red battery light was flickering in my 1998 Volvo V70XC; I replaced the battery.  Today the battery light began flickering again and now is on solid.  All lights work in my car; nothing has dimmed.  I have also driven approximately 300 miles since this battery was installed.  My Volvo mechanic cannot look at it until Thurs afternoon.  Please advise.

Answer
Lyn,
The red light means PROBLEM, so you need to have the charging system tested to see if the alt is working and charging, and that the cables are in good shape. I would hold off on driving too much since you do not know if the charging system is working. If the battery gets too low on power the car will stop.
