Volvo: Volvo 2001 S80- Idle is Park is going up/down by itself., electronic throttle, vin number

We have a 2001 S80 with 71K miles and is now starting to show its age. A few days ago the while starting the car the engine will raise and lower on its own while in park. But as you shift it into reverse/drive the car seems to work fine. The battery and Alternator were replace about 7 months ago so we are not sure what this problem could be. Any things to look for or what it may be will help in determining the cost factor for repair. Thanks for your time.

Seem like any repair to the S80's are costly. I have hear of many complaints. The idle problems are more that likely related to the ETS electronic throttle system. There is a download for the system that fixes that fault. The dealer should be able to check into that for you. They will need your VIN number to check the records.
