Volvo: Air conditioner and heat intermittently shut off, 2001 volvo s40, volvo s40

I have a 2001 Volvo S40.  When my A/C and heat fan speed are set on auto and auto, my heat and air occasionally will intermittently shut off and on.  This only occurs when it is on the auto setting on both dials.  I have taken it to the dealer numerous times but they can not recreate the problem because it only happens occasionally.

It appears that you have a problem with the heater control head and since the dealer can not duplicate the complaint they do not want to just replace parts. you could try and make an appointment with the dealers service rep and explain your problem, he/she maybe able to do something for you.
