Volvo: Regular Motor Oil vs. Synthetic, ilsac gf, oil additives

Question
Hi!
I own a 2002 VOLVO S40, and I am not sure if it originally came with synthetic, or regular motor oil from the factory.  I also don't recall what type of motor oil (synthetic or regular) was used during subsequent oil changes.  I am going to take my car for an oil change, and I want to be sure that the correct type of motor oil is used.  Can you tell me which type that is?
Thank you.
RAFAEL

Answer
Rafael,
Use engine oil that meets or exceeds the ILSAC GF-2 specification as well as the ACEA A1, API SJ, SJ/CF and SJ/Energy Conserving specifications

Oil additives must not be used.

-30 to +86 degrees 5w/30    -20 to +104 degrees 10w/30

Use a good brand of motor oil of your choice (regular or synthetic) that will meet above standards. I use a Chevron Motor oil regular type of 10w/30.
