My car doesn't idle well, kinda like almost dies then surges, my husband thinks it needs a minor carborator adjustment but isn't sure how to do it.  Any suggestions?  Thanks, Gail

First your car has fuel injection and not a carburetor. It may need a tune up, or injection adjustment, has a bad fuel injector, clogged filter, bad pre pump, plug wire, weak cylinder, burnt valve and list goes on. Take the car to a shop that works on Volvos (as they know the cars problems) and get an estimate on repairs.
