Volvo: 940s alarm, neutral safety switch, volvo estate

Question
I.ve just purchased a 940s Volvo estate but the alarm fob didn't work (only 1 with car) while I was unloading the car (ignition off) the alarm activated and I can no longer use the car. I've only done 95 miles since I bought it.Apparently the leds were flashing about every 3 secs before this happened and this appears to be service mode. I have replaced batteries in alarm fob but still cannot disarm alarm (volvo factory fitted by the way) and have been told the only way round this problem is have the car transported to a volvo agents and have the alarm control unit replaced 2 new fobs supplied and reprogrammed and that might cure the problem or might not. Can you help

Answer
Henry,
Unplug the alarm control unit and see if that will allow the car to start. If not look in the area of the fuse box for the wires that go to the neutral safety switch, (pink wire) follow it and see if there is a spliced in wire if there is it will go to the alarm control unit. Remove the spliced wire and see if the car will start.
