Volvo: 2001 v70 T5, brake failure, bad cluster

Question
Hey Ray I have a 2001 v70 t5 64000 miles on her. about a year ago she started surging as i stepped on the brakes, she has all the signs of an etm problem but no codes for the service reps or so they say. My dash lights up like a Christmas tree from abs to check engine to brake failure. I've been dealing with this for a year now patch installed and it made more problems, please help, thanks

Answer
Sal,
Surging as you brake? That sounds like rotors out of round and as you brake you get a pulsing through the car and steering system. You might try to demenstrate that for the service people as that might have been a communication problem. If there are not any codes, unless you ask to have the ETM replaced the shop has no reason to do so. I know that there have been many problems with the ETM and may in fact be part of your problem. Why all the light on the dash light up without any reason might be a bad cluster or loose wiring to the cluster. Sorry there is not a short and "right" answer, but these cars have had many problems and issues. The dealer should have some support from the manufacturer to resolve these issues, keep after them to help repair this fault.
