Volvo: 94 Volvo 850 engine swap, flapper valve, volvo 850

Question
I purchased a 94 850 non turbo, not running due to an overheat problem. I also purchased a junk yard engine, an proceeded to do an engine swap. It seems that there are thee different engines for this model. The one that I removed had more environmental controls, including a flapper valve in the intake manifold that redirects the EGR return gasses, and a canister in front of the car on the drivers side. Question: can I use the engine that I purchased by changing out the intake manifold and fuel rail/injectors, or are there major differences in these engines that will prevent me from making this swap work?

Answer
David,
You might be able to get the engine to work by swapping out the manifold and the other things, but you really do have the wrong engine. The job would be easier by far if you had all the proper controls. I do not know if emission testing is an issue by you, but without the proper controls you may fail emissions.
