Volvo: starting, battery cables, good shape

Question
Hello-

I have a problem with my 91 240 sedan.  I let it sit for 4 weeks and tried starting it with new battery.  The car doesn't turnover at all.  I am debating about the starter.  Is this a common problem with starters in this car?  I had read earlier in responses about the Transmission not going to 4th gear, I replaced the relay and still will not shift to 4th when it runs.  I am not mechanically inclined and would have no idea on changing the wire to control the o/d.  Thanks for your help!

Answer
Matt,
Starter is the next most logical thing that has to be tested. They don't go out often but do stop working at times and over years. Be sure that the battery cables are in good shape clean and connected tightly both ends. If you are not sure about your skills regarding the over drive and the wires, have the car taken to a shop and see what they can find out for you.
