Volvo: volvo 1995 960 wagon, neutral safety switch, position sensor

turn key to start, lights come on, will not turn over or start, last time it started there was a 1 oe 2 second delay, then it started. I charged for 2 hours..no luck.. tried to use my porable jump start battery, not luck. Any ideas? has been sitting for a few months in the garage, starting once a week until today.

Have the battery tested, replace it if needed and make sure the car is in Park. Read the code to see if you have a code for gear position sensor, that is the neutral safety switch. Get to the starter and jump the small wire with the large one that should crank over the starter. You can also remove the starter and jump it from a battery charger.
