Volvo: 1989 Volvo 240 DL, volvo 240 dl, 1989 volvo 240

Question
Hey I came across a 1989 Volvo 240 DL. It has 200,000 miles on it. 30,000 of itis on a new rebuilt engine and transmission. It's a silver car.

It has new pads, rotors, calipers, recent muffler work, fresh oil change new tune up, its smoged and registered till 2007. The molding on the passenger side is gone.

Do you think this is worth it? This would be my first car, as I am a college student. I will be using this car to commute to work which is about 30 miles away in moderate traffic.

How much longer do you think this car will last?

And do you think it's a good deal?

Is there anything I should be concerned about when buying a car as old as this?

thanks

Answer
Gary,
If in fact all the parts are new and of some quality I would say yes it is worth it. Now to be sure take the car to a shop that works on Volvo and have them do an inspection of the vehicle. That way you will get a list of the good and bad things. Then at that point you can make an informed decision as to if it is worth it or not.
