Volvo: 1994 940 volvo, power stage, fuel filter

I have been having a problem with my Volvo cutting off after I have been riding for about 45 minutes.  As soon as I begin to apply the brake the check engine light comes on and then the whole panel lights up.  I put the car back in park and it starts right back up again.  Today it happened twice.  What could be the problem?

Had regular maintenance items been replaced like the air and fuel filter? You need to see if you are getting gas at all times, so maybe the filter and or the fuel pump is stopping, feed pump is not working. If you are loosing spark you may have a bad power stage or even a suppersion relay.
