Volvo: starting problems on 240 volvo, volvo car, charging system

Question
car stoppped cranking. was told it was the battery. next day would not crank- was told i needed an alternator. next morning the same problem. will take a boost but when the ignition is cut off- the car dies.

Answer
Chiquita,
Have the charging system teated and also the battery. Use a shop that is familiar with Volvo and all there problems. If the car cranks with a jump then the starter is ok. Does the battery go dead after a few hours? That would indicate a draw of current with the key off.
