Volvo: Car wont start after I tested and cleaned the MAFS, volvo 850 glt, mass air flow sensor

Question
Hello,

I have a 1996 Volvo 850 GLT that I'm having a difficult time starting. It happened just after I removed the Mass Air flow sensor and started it. Then, I cleaned the sensor with Crc electric parts cleaner, then put it back on. At first it took a couple of tries to start then it worked. But, now I have to make several more tries to get the car to start. Also, I replaced the O2 sensor, wireset, spark plugs, fuel filter, and put in a fuel treatment.  Do I need to check the throttle Position Sensor, Catlytic Convertor, or Replace the MAF sensor? What should I do next?

Answer
Gene,
Next would be to read all the codes posted in the control unit as they will supply the answer as to what signals are missing. When cranking the engine over what is the fuel pressure? Should be 42 psi. Air mass meters have a high failure rate, perhaps that will be one of the code(s) you are getting. If the car will run at all, you may have to clear all codes and run the vehicle for a while to see what codes return.
