Question
Good Morning, my question is I have a volvo 960 and a couple of days I was going to the store and I was turning and all of a sudden when I gave it gas to accelerate it had no power it would not go anywhere, and i was dring on E, I noticed the E and W were flashing and the arrow that says the w mode was on was also flashing, after letting it rest it did start but it had no power when i accelerate, please let me know what this is and if this is going to be expensive to fix and if it is worth fixing. thank you grace.

Answer
Grace,
If the arrow is flashing check for codes in the trans. It sounds as if the trans is starting off in winter mode and is having trouble finding the proper gears. There have been many gear position sensor failures. Have someone get me the fault code(s) so we can start diagnosing the fault. Depending on the year vehicle you need a scanner to read those codes.
