Volvo: 1998 Volvo S70 oil pan leak, volvo s70, 1998 volvo s70

Question
I have a 1998 Volvo S70, 2.4L non-turbo with 143,000 miles on it.  Yesterday, I anticipated a turn too early and ended up hitting the bottom of my car along the edge of the road surface, which scratched a hole into the oil pan.  The hole is approximately 1/4-inch wide, so it's pretty small, but enough to leak out all of the oil.  Is this something that I can fix myself, rather than take to my mechanic?  Can it possibly be patched in some way?  If not, can I replace the oil pan at home without any special tools?  I know that oil pans can be very expensive, so I'm hoping that patching is a possibility.  Thank you very much for your input!

Answer
Matt,
There are things out there that can seal all kinds of leaks. I might try JB Weld for aluminum. No special tools are required, but it is a bit tough especially on your back. Mostly a lot of busy work. There is a special sealer that is used and some o'rings. You can shop for a used pan. Try www.revolvstore.com Supply the engine number off the timing cover ie B5254S.
