Volvo: likelyhood of starter motor and Emc going tether, electronic throttle, starter motor

Question
i have a 440 2.0 auto which i sent in to have its brakes done ! Volvo recommended that as the engine was running a bit rough that the inlet gaskets needed replacing ! after which the starter motor stopped working and then the Emc.
Would the work done to the gaskets have any effect on the other two problems that have occured !The car worked 100%before the work was carried out(apart from the brakes)Hope you can help as im having problems with the dealer cheers Toby

Answer
Toby,
Here in the United States we do not have the 440. However I can not see how replacing of the intake gaskets would affect the starter. Now the Emc, is that an electronic throttle module? If it is there maybe a connection. Possible the electrical connection was broken or left loose.
