Q: Key will not turn in the ignition. In the last 24hrs, I have had to spend 15-20mins trying to play with and engage the key in my car's ignition.  Once I've spent all this time, the car is fine.  But it is very troublesome and worrisome, when you put the key in the igntion and it does nothing.  I am not sure what to do in the meantime and how progressively worse this will become.  Please advise soon!!!

It will get to the point that you will not be able to turn the key. If that happens then even the repair will be harder to do. So get to the dealer and let them look at the car. I would say at the very least you will need a key tumbler assembly, and the most a complete lock assembly.
