Volvo: What year volvo to buy, turbos, hinges

Question
I have had 2 '96 volvos. I am looking for wagon with 3rd seat--what year model is best all around?  I have found a 94 and a 95 with turbos--I really don't want turbo though.  The hydraulic hinges in my 96 have gone out.  Are they hard to replace?  Do I need to get volvo parts for it? TIA

Answer
Sandy,
I like the 96 to 98 850/V70 turbo or non. I also like the 92 to 95 940's. The 940's tend to be less expensive to take care of with less down time. The tailgate struts are specific to the car so anyone that can order the proper ones will work. I would be sure that I at least call a place that works on Volvo's to get my parts, as they can order quality parts that will work on your car and fit properly. You only said that you have a 96 Volvo not what model. The 940's are real easy to replace and the 850/V70 are much tougher.
