Volvo: AC not cold, ac unit, r134a

Hi,

I have a 1993 850 Volvo sedan and my AC is not blowing cold.  I tried charging it but no luck. I hear a clicking noise when the AC unit is on close by the belt and compressor. Do you think my compressor is bad?

Best way to start is to evacuate the system and the charge it with the proper amount (1.63lbs) R134A. If the system is low it will come on and go off. It is not a common practice to add freon to top it up, you will not have any idea of the amount in the system. Give that a try before condemning the compressor.
