Volvo: 1998 Volvo-Wont start..., dash lights, fuse

Question
Hi I have browsed through a big majority of your q&a's however I was unable to locate an answer to my situation. I have owned this Volvo for a couple months and havent had a problem, this afternoon I went to leave and my car wouldnt start, wouldnt even crank over. The interior functions seem to be on such as dash lights, key dinger etc. The only thing different in this situation which seems very coincidental is that my son opened that rear side door behind driver when the car was locked, that door doesnt lock but when you have pushed the lock button and open that door while the rest of car is locked all the lights flash like you've tripped an alarm. Im not sure if it has an alarm but all lights flash like there is one. Also the flashers wont turn off, as a result of this, we had to disconnect battery and pull fuse for flashers to get them to shut off. Its like the car thinks it was being stolen and has "shut down" some how. I am stumped any ideas? Thankyou in advance for your expert advice. Sincerely Shauna

Answer
Shauna,
Sounds as if the alarm is causeing the problem. Try to lock and then unlock with the remote, and then the key if need be. When you use the key use it in the drivers door, then if nothing try the passangers door. If all else fails you will have to have it towed to the dealer.
