Volvo: 1990 740 GL No Start, engine cranks, poor fuel

Question
Hi Ray
A friend has a 90 740GL 4 cly non turbo. Engine cut out while driving. I replaced the fuel pump and relay. This is a single fuel pump car. The car ran well for 3 weeks. Then cut out again. Poor fuel pressure. I replace the pump again.
Now I have good fuel pressure. The engine cranks strong but won't start. It wants to start using starting fluid. I have checked all wiring and there is a signal going to injectors. I'm loss at this point. Any suggestions please!!!

Answer
Chris,
If the fuel pressure is right, why will it attempt to start with carb spray, no fuel being injected into the engine, or not enough. If the spark will jump a 1/4 inch then make sure fuel is injected into the engine. The injectors will have 12 volts key on, the ground is what makes the injector fire. The control unit via the injection relay, sometimes called the radio supression relay are the power supplies.
