Volvo: 98 V70 radio and check engine light, v70 wagon, volvo dealership

Question
I bought a used 98 V70 wagon and the radio just says off. The previous owner changed the radio and says it has to be programed before the radio can be used. How do i program the radio? Also the check engine light is on and the volvo dealership forgot to turn it off for the previous owner, how do i turn it off? i have seen the receipts for the previous work so i know it was completed.

Answer
Monique,
If the radio in not the orignal you need the Model number off the front of the radio, you need the part number, top of radio, and the serial number also on top. Call a Volvo dealer and ask for the radio code. Radio on and the display says code put the code into the radio and it will come on.
Only someone with a scanner that can access the diagnostic system can read the codes and repair any fault and clear the codes for the check engine light.
