Volvo: Volvo c70, volvo c70, volvo platform

Question
When did Ford take over Volvo?  Is the c70 built on a c70 model or another Volvo model?  I am looking at a 02 c70 turbo convertible.  Are there any sites that I can go to that will list problems with this car?  Have there been listings where people have had a lot of problems with the motor and mechanics of the convertible top?  Do the emissions give a lot of problems on these cars?  I am thinking about purchasing an extended warranty, what do you think?  The one that I am considering list wear and tear,  overheating and some sensors but no abs, convertible motor or emissions.  I would really appreciate any advice on this particular type of volvo as I have never purchased a foreign car before.  Thanks

Answer
Jerry,
Ford aquired Volvo in about 2001. The C70 is built on a Volvo platform and is slighty different than the S or V70.
The warranty would be a good idea, see if you can get one that will cover the top and emissions along with oil leaks. Those are some of the biggest problems with the car. Try www.brickboard.com for some feedback on the C70.
