Volvo: 1993 960 wagon transmission, jerky motion, desision

Question
Third gear is slipping but only in times of light acceleration. There is no change in the rpms during the jerky motion brought on by the problem. This is why I think it is in the transmission. Is it totally gone? What do you think the cost would be of fixing it? Thank you for your time.

Answer
Sam,
When there is a car that come to me with a trans slipping and or not engaging properly I will advise to replace it with a reman unit from Volvo or a used unit from a Volvo salave yard. Reman trans part only $1200.00 Used $750.00. Give or take a little.
Your other option is to have any and all trans codes read just to see if there is possibly a fault in the electronics of the trans. Follow any leads to help make an informed desision.
