Volvo: fuel line, volvo wagon, empty tank

Question
A couple days ago I parked my 87 240 volvo wagon with very little
gas. When I went to move the car a day later it wouldn't start. I
filled it with about five gallons of gas but it still won't start. It
comes close so I'm assuming I need to purge the fuel lines of air
since I tried starting it on an empty tank several times. How do
purge the fuel line or get the gas pressure up?

Answer
Kevin,
Being that your car is fuel injected, there is no need to prime the fuel system. If you are not getting fuel up to the injection rail there are other problems. Make sure the pumps both in tank and main are operating. Check fuses in the main panel and the one from the positive battery cable.
Low fuel pressure, bad pump blocked fuel filter, clogged line.
