Volvo: air mass sensor, volvo enthusiasts, mass sensor

Question
my 1985 240 wagon ran great until this morning. It would not start. After exploring and some inquiry, I unpluged the air mass meter. Starts right up,idles well, stalls on acceleration. Is this clearly the air mass part?

Answer
this would eliminate any spark or fuel problems, i'm not sure, this part is the only way the computer knows how much air is coming into the engine, so it can't possibly accelerate, in order to check this part the contact(s) have to be checked for their proper resistance, i don't know what it is for 1985, i wouldn't buy a new one unless i checked the resistances of the contacts. theres a site called www.brickboard.com with volvo enthusiasts that would know about your year car, on an 87 , mine, the resistance between terminals 6 and 7 is 3.7 ohms and 6 and 14 is 0 to 1000 depending upon the screw setting
