Volvo: 2001 S60 T-5, computer messages, valve bodies

Question
I know you are most knowledgable for years prior to my car, but I figure its worth a shot and not a waste of your time. I drive an S60 T-5, it has 70K miles, I change the oil regularly and havent had any issues with it unitl this weekend with the exception of my car surges at lights, I am told this is because of the zero program in the software. The dealer wouldnt do anything about this. My car went in for a recall for the throttle bodies and they said that should fix the surging. It didnt. I have learned to live with that. Now, I was driving in auto, not geartronic, about 45mph when all of the sudden I had no transmission. I pulled to the side of the road, turned the car off and on, tried reverse, Drive, Geartronic nothing. There was no noise, no warning lights, no computer messages. The fluid level is fine, does not appear burnt. I am at a loss, I have no idea what this could be. Any information would be useful. Thank you

Answer
George,
Even though there are no messages in the message center have the codes read, I would guess that there is a problem in the trans control. There are software downloads that may help and also there have been some issues with the valve body. There have even been some cases that the whole trans has been replace to fix some like problems. Seems like there has not been a lot of information about the trans problems and replacement, reprograming and valve bodies are the latest fixes.
