Volvo: All brake lights inoperative, Trunk light inop, filament bulb, brake light switch

Question
Hi,

I have a '97 Volvo 850 5 spd, and all of my brake lights, including 3rd brake light are inop.  Checked fuse (10A), good.  Changed fuse anyway, still no result.  Where exactly is the relay, in the fuse box, or above the brake pedal in the car?  Also, trunk light bulb works if turned on at the switch in the trunk, but not in the auto position (no light when trunk is opened).  Is this bulb a 2 filament bulb?

Thanks in advance,

Norman

Answer
Norman,
The brake light switch is located at the brake pedal arm, power then flows to the bulb out relay in the truck located just below the left taillght assembly under the covering.
The truck light sounds like a bad light assembly. There is only one element in the bulb. If that bulb works and only in the on position then inspect it and see if it is possibly out of place somehow, if not then the lamp assembly is bad.
