Volvo: Volvo Battery Cable, v70 glt, 1999 volvo v70

Question
I have a 1999 Volvo V70 GLT and I was recently told that my battery cable is severly corroded.  I purchased a replacement cable but when I went to install it, the old one was in perfect condition.  When I went to return the new cable, the Volvo service people told me that the corrosion on a battery cable is not visible but that our cable is running very hot and is currently a fire hazard.  Does this sound right to you?  Thank you for your help.

Answer
ummm, lets see, that is weird, (jokingly)first, they are made of copper, copper doesn't corrode, so it would have to be the clamp part( where the wire is clamped to the clamp), hot wires is caused by resistance (electrons in wires have some kind of obstacle that shouldn't be there)sometimes you want this like a heated seat, it sounds like the battery itself, but who knows? i would change it immediately, if it's more than 3 years old, but do check to see what the cable looks like-is the rubber on it still intact? is the cable tightly held by the clamp like it should be?, and the connection to the starter, how is that? the negative cable should be checked also
