Volvo: Engine Light, Arrow Light, Electrical, light arrow, odometer reading

I have an S70 1999 Volvo Sedan.  The engine light went on, yesterday, continues to remain on, the Arrow light is also on coupled with it and will not go off.

Also, there was a moment where the entire odometer reading went blank for one or 2 seconds.    That however, did come back.

I was told its possible that the gear shift is not reading (because of the arrow light), but it is right now at the shop for the diagnosis.

Any information would be helpful.

If the arrow is flashing and engine light id on there are codes for the problem stores in the control unit. They need to be read and addressed then the codes can be cleared and things should be back to normal. Readng those code(s) and following them should give you the diagnosis you need.
