Question
Ray, I found the problem with the blower motor, a single black wire behind the glove box and next to the middle kick panel was corroded. I still do not have power to the A/C compressor or the horns. The control panel fan switch works in all 5 positions. I have taken the control panel apart and could not see any bad solder joints. Where does the main power come into the control panel at? Is is possible to take the control panel to a shop to be tested? I would like to make sure it is bad before I put out the big bucks to replace it. Anything else that you can think of for the horn and power to the A/C compressor will be greatly appreciated.

Ray, I checked the grounds and disconnected reconnected them, I checked the blower motor with alternate power and it works, ran a hot wire to the compressor and it engaged the clutch. I now have power in one wire (red) coming into the control panel through the 14 wire connector, no other power.

I am having electrical problems, first the horn quit working, then the A/C compressor, and then the a/c - heater blower quit. I have checked the fuses and they are okay, I have checked for power to the A/c control panel and there is no power getting to the panel. Please help.

Answer -
Mike,
When these problems occure try turning the ignition key back an forth slightly. I suspect that the electrical position of the ignition switch is going bad. If that does not work check all the wires coming off the positive battery terminal, sometimes they become loose or broken.

Answer -
Mike,
There are grounds at both left and right side front inside the car behind the panel just in front of the door opening. That is called the Front "A" post. See if all those grounds are good and tight. You can also check under the fuse box to see if the wires are all plugged in and tight. If all those are good the wiring between the known good fuse to the blower, climate unit, horn, etc. Before tracing the wiring make sure that all the parts you are going to test are good. Run your own power supply to them for testing.

Answer -
Mike,
Trace the other wires and see where they go and what is keeping them from bringing power to the items being tested. If your problem is now only the A/C and blower, sounds like the control head is at fault. Test to see that power goes to the control head and see if it sends power out when the switch is on. I have seen quite a few failed control heads.

Answer
Mike,
Horns will have power only with the key on and they are fused. Check the fuses, turn on the key and see if there is power to the horns.
If the fan works then you have power to the control head. Connector "A" has 14 pins. Pin number 10 is power to the compressor green red wire. To the best of my knowlege there is not anyone that can preform a bench test on the control head. You test it in the car and if you push the button for the A/C and no power is coming from the heads #10 green red wire, then you apply your own power and the compressor works, control head is dead.
