Volvo: Fuel flow or electrical hesitation during acceleration, volvo 240 dl, volvo 240

Volvo 240 DL. On the road when I press the gas petal for ecelleration it hesitates and sputters and eventually speeds along and seems fine.  O2 sensor Problems? or distributor wireing ? All spark plugs have been replaced recently.  The car has been sitting up for a long spell. I jsut drove the car from Raleigh NC to Florida to shake it out. Hesitation decreased but not commpletely.  Best guess would be appreciated.

Since the car has been sitting for a long period the fuel system might be clogged a bit. Good gas for a while and change the fuel filter will help. Check to make sure the feed pump in the tank is working, it causes a loss of power and hesitation on acceleration. If the ignition wires look old I would just go ahead and replace them. Bad wires will cause a vehicle to miss and that can also be a lack of power.
