my air conditioner in my 1983 volve just quit blowing. Yesterday it was cold and blowing hard. today nothing.

So the blower is not blowing or is the compressor not coming on? Blowers do go out in these cars and is replaceable. It is a pretty big job so be prepared.
There have been defective ignition switches that will not power up things like the blower and radio. When this happens turn the key back and forth slightly and see if the blower starts to operate.
