Volvo: 1990 Volvo Electrical Problem, volvo 240, faulty wiring

Question
I have a 1990 volvo 240 with only 90,000 miles.  My dummy lights began comming on dimmly and then going off periodically on my way home one night.  The next day my husband drove my car and it just died entirely.  We had the battery and alternator tested, the battery was fine and the alternator bad.  We replaced the alternator with original bosch parts and it ran great for about 10 miles.  The gages started wavering and the dummy lights flashing and she died.  We could jump start her and she ran for about 5 minutes and died again. Since I live in rural Alaska and there is no chance of taking her to mechanic, any suggestions you have would be great.  Thank you.

Answer
Hello Kris! The first thing you need to do is check the output of the charging system. You will need special tools to do this. There could be faulty wiring between the alternator and the battery. It is best to have a qualified technician check it for you.
