Volvo: 1986 Volvo 240DL, mass air flow sensor, mass air flow

Question
Hello,

My 240 DL has only 105K on it and recently it sarted to loose power.  My mechanic replaced the plugs, coil, fuel filter, main computer and is now trying to find an used ignition control unit.

Prior to this upon stariting I would have to turn the key a few times spray some starting/carb fluid into the injector & pump the gas .  Once it started it would run fine but when starting I would have to turn the key a few times.

Last week I ran the tank to empty.  Filled it with regular, drove 30 miles before it started to loose a little bit of power.  Finally I had to pull over and ever since it did not start until the above mentioned were replaced.  Now it runs very rough and with half power.

Answer
Eric,
Have the fuel pressure tested. Make sure the feed pump is working and that the hose between the pump and the sending unit is not broken or split. If you have the car running  check the timing and if it advances when the car is accelerated then I would say that the control unit is probably working correctly. Make sure that the timing is set correctly, that you have good gas in the car, no vacuum leaks, clean air filter. If you have the availabilty try and switch out the mass air flow sensor.
