Volvo: Volvo 960 slow at full throttle., fuel milage, fuel injection service

Question
I wonder if the Volvo 960 with 2.9L B6304 in general is a bit slow at full throttle.
Even at high rpm's the car seem to give more
power when I reduce the throttle.
If you wanted to pass another car with an old 144,
you could put the pedal to the metal and the engine would do its best, but on my 960 I know that the engine is capable of giving much more power than I am experiencing at full throttle.
I believe other 960's I've tried is similar.
Could a tuned chip be helpful?

Answer
Rkam,
Now a tune up and changing of fuel and air filters can not hurt the car it may also increase performance. How about going to your favorite shop and asking about a fuel injection service that will clean the injectors? Again something that will not hurt. While your car is in the shop have them read any codes that could be stored in the control unit. That could also leed to a problem with performance. Keeping in mind that the 960 is a rather large car and preformance could also be a result of the size of the vehicle. Does the car give you good all around preformance in town and idle smoothly getting fairly decent fuel milage? If you can get a hold of a tuned chip that will possibly improve the preformance and satisfy your need for speed. However I can not say that I have heard of a chip that will work in your vehicle.
