i have a 91' 740 sedan and when i turn on the headlight i get the bulb warning light and my windshield wiper blades come on and wont turn off until headlights are turned off. i have no burned out bulbs the warning light also also comes on when i use the blinkers when the headlights are off. any idea of whats wrong?
Answer -
Robert,
Check the grounds for the headlights and then the wipers. With this sort of problem usually means grounds or shorted wires. Resistance in the bulbs is what causes the bulb out light to come on. Most time on the 90 and 91 740's the rear bulb plate is what causes this to happen.

Answer
Robert,
Check the area around the wiper and turn signal switch itself. Some are screwed to the column area there.
Some grounds for the lights are out in front by the battery on the inner fender well, both right and left side. There are grounding tabs that hold a few different grounds.
Another spot you will find some ground wires is the right side front "A" post (like where the LH control unit is located.) Behind the panel that covers the control unit. Just behind it you will see the grounding tab.
