Volvo: 960 volvo, 1997, sedan, trouble areas, trouble code

The flashing arrow came on and the W & E transmission indicator started flashing, one then the other. The car barely moved after this happened, it occured while stopped and starting to put car in garage. The mileage is 110,000. The check engine light came on and stayed on.

The flashing arrow and W/E light indicates there is a trouble code stored in the Trans Control Unit. You need to have the codes read and recorded then cleared and see if they return. Depending on what codes return 313 would mean a gear position sensor or a 114 indicating a mode switch. Both of these are common codes or the most likely trouble areas.
