Volvo: 1994 Volvo 850 odometer, crash pad, volvo 850

Question
The odometer has failed on my daughters vehicle. In the limited research I have done thus far, it appears that in might be a somewhat common 850 problem? How difficult is it to remove the instrument cluster in the 94 850 non-turbo? I have located a company that sells the gears and would be willing to purchase a shop manual and repair it myself if the removal process is reasonable. Thanks.

Answer
Lyle,
It's a little tricky, but remove the crash pad and loosen the retaining clips that hold the cluster in place. Remove the cluster and then start removing the screws that hold the cluster together, carefully remembering where everything went. Remove the speedo and replace the gear. Take your time and you should be fine.
