Volvo: Breaks, light rust, gentelman

Question
Hi Jimmy, I just purchased an 89 Volvo 240GL Wagon. The breaks work great, however they make a very loud sqeaking noise when applide sometimes, but not always.

I know the older gentelman I bought the car from did let it sit in his garage for a period of about 6 or 7 months. Could it be that there is some light rust on rotors, or just break dust. What do I do to stop this problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Bruce

Answer
Hello Bruce! It is possibel that the noise is due to the fact the car was sitting for so long. It should go away over time. If the noise persists, you may want to check to see what brake pads are in there. Some Non-Volvo pads, especially the cheaper ones, can make lots of noise. It may be best to replace them all.
