Volvo: S70 rad fan runs on, coolant temp, cold mornings

Question
Our 98 S70 (about 70,000 miles) is running fine except the electric rad fan runs on for a few minutes after turning off the engine. The temp gage seems to show a normal reading. We replaced the coolant temp sensor - made no change. Don't know if this is also related, but started happening about the same time: on very cold mornings (well below freezing) the engine wouldn't come up to fast idle and stalls sometimes (seems like it needs choke). After a minute it warms up and it's fine. Also with temp settings on Hi the cabin doesn't seem to get very much heat. Thanks for the help. Ed.

Answer
Hello Ed! Sometimes the fan will run for a few minutes after the car is turned off. That is normal. If it seems to be running longer that usual, it is best to have the car checked out. HAve the mechanic check it for any fault codes that may be stored in the ECM.
