Volvo: cooling system, head gasket, expansion tank

Question
Hi Jimmy--I have a 1993 960 thats leaking coolant out of the upper hose where it connects to the radiator. The clamp is new and very tight. This starts to happen minutes after start up and the upper hose is swollen with pressure. I thought it was a sticky thermostat and replaced it with a new oem part, no change. the expansion tank is also filling up and when I crack the cap a lot pressure is released after the car has only been running for a few minutes. Is there some other valve that could be stuck--I'm stuck--thanks Peter

Answer
Hello Peter! First check to see that the radiator is not cracked at the hose connection. If you are building up that much presuure quickly, the head gasket may be blown. There could be some serious engine damage. Get the car to a shop ASAP before any other damage results from the situation.
