Volvo: transmission of 1995 850 volvo, transmission shop, scan tool

the car has over 100,000. When its cold, and you start going it has a burning smell. The arrow pointed up stays lit. When you drive it when its warm-there is no smell. We took it to a transmission shop. They say nothing is wrong. Can you help? All fluids were fine.

Hello Laurie! If the arrow light is on, there is a fault in the transmission or the trans control module. You will need to have a Volvo technician check the car with a special scan tool that can read faults stored in the trans module. That should tell you where the problem is.
