Volvo: m46 --> m47, rubber spacers, speed tranny

Question
recently swapped m46 4-speed tranny with m47 5-speed tranny on my '80 244 gl. body clearance doesn't seem enough as tranny keeps hitting car body. what's the solution?

Answer
I actually have the same problem, I swapped an automatic out for an M46, and when I go over large bumps at speed, the top shifter support hits the body housing.  I decided to ignore it eventually, but discovered that I most likely left out rubber spacers on the crossmember below the last half of the transmission.  If I put the rubber spacers on the bolts for the crossmember, it lowers the crossmember and the transmission as well, increasing the clearance.  I would suggest finding some bolt spacers if you want to drop it.  Goodl luck!
