Volvo: faulty fuel gauge, fuel level sensor, fuel gauge

i have a 1990 volvo. i recently had a new battery installed and now the fuel gauge is not working(stays below empty) but the other gauges are functioning. thanks for you help

I'm not sure why a battery replacement would have caused the fuel gauge problem, but when one gauge malfunctions, it usually means the sender is bad.  In this case, the in-tank fuel level sensor is probably bad, I would check to see if it is functioning.  Good luck!
