Volvo: 1984 Volvo 244 Thermostat Location, little bulge, volvo engine

Question
Jason,
I have a 1984 244 Volvo engine in my boat.  It is overheating.  I got the water pump out to replace it but would also like to do the thermostat.  Could you give me a clue as to where it is located?

Thanks,
Paul Lat

Answer
If you look at the engine strait on (where the timing belt is facing you), the thermostat is located just behind and to the right of the timing belt cover, where the radiator hose connects to the block.  You'll have to disconnect the hose, but the thermostat is in the little bulge right beneath it.
